COVID safety protocols
We at Smart Fort Wayne are back to serving you after a short hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic. True to our motto, we always keep our patients first, even in these trying times.
We are now open to cater to your comprehensive oral care while keeping all safety protocols in mind. Our priority is to keep both you our patients, and our team members as safe as possible.
Safety measures adopted
We have established the following protocols, and have implemented a few changes for optimal safety. We strive to provide the highest standards of safe dental care to you during the pandemic.
- We have established mandatory risk assessments and invested in extra personal protection equipment (PPE).
- We have updated the infection protection protocols as per the latest COVID-10 guidance and operating procedures.
- All of us check our temperatures every morning to ensure we are safe and healthy enough to serve you.
- All patients are pre-screened before their appointments too. Our routine screening protocol includes filling out forms before the appointment, taking your temperature and questioning you on arrival.
- Patients are requested to wait in their vehicles, and not in the dental office. We will text you when your room and dentist are ready for you.
- We continually wipe and disinfect all commonly used areas, including card machines, doorknobs, lift buttons, and play areas. We also suggest you avoid unnecessary touching office surfaces.
- Our team members wear appropriate FFP3 masks and PPE for each procedure.
- We sterilize all our instruments as per the infection control protocol and CDC recommendations.
- We care so much for our patients that we take the extra effort of reaching out to patients who had missed essential procedures when we were closed.
- We have altered our practice premises to ensure social distancing between patients and staff members.
- Our contactless administration system ensures you have a pleasant visit.
- We request parents or legal guardians to accompany children because we will not treat unattended children. You will have to wear a mask and shoe cover during your child’s appointment.
- We request you avoid bringing additional family members to the dental office, unless necessary.
- We may at times, request that you sit away from the dental chair than average.
- Please understand if we cannot accommodate your appointment on your requested date. We have set limitations on the number of appointments available per day to maintain social distancing between patients.
- We take the extra effort of giving patients suffering from health problems special appointment slots like early morning or late afternoon slots. It’s to minimize the risks of any possible contamination.
- We no longer have objects like magazines and children’s toys in the waiting room. It’s to minimize the risk of cross-contamination because they are challenging to clean and disinfect.
- We have hand sanitizers available for your use thought our Fort Wayne dental office.
- The notice board at the reception contains COVID-19 related information for you to read before the appointment.
- We have masks on hand for patients who need one.
- We have reduced our working hours to avoid the rush hour and maintain our patients’ and staff’s safety.
What we suggest you should do
- Please wash hands immediately upon entering the dental office, and after your treatment.
- Please self-isolate yourself if you have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 symptoms for the recommended period.
We thank you and appreciate your loyalty and understanding. We also hope things will return to normal soon and will keep you updated about any changes. Working together, we are sure we will come out victorious in the face of this challenge.
