Having dental appointments with several different providers is more nuisance than most families need. Do you really want to be driving all over town to see a separate dentist for pediatric, orthodontic, adult, and periodontal care? Of course not!
At Family Dentistry & Aesthetics, our doctors have the training and experience to handle all your family’s dental and oral health needs here in Fort Wayne. From tots and teens to reluctant spouses - we provide routine and restorative care for the whole family.
Dentistry for Children and Adolescents
While a pediatric dentist is necessary in some cases, most kids do great with a general family dentist. For children, the key to having good dental experiences is establishing a routine with early intervention and regular visits with a trusted provider.
Children should start routine dental visits by their third birthday. During a first visit, we take special care to ensure children feel safe and have a pleasant experience during their cleaning and exam. We take the time to make the visit a relaxed and joyful opportunity to focus on dental health, so he or she feels good when walking out the door.
During six-month visits we give your child’s teeth a gentle dental cleaning, discuss brushing and flossing techniques, and examine the teeth for any signs of decay or damage. We also assess your child’s facial growth and tooth eruption, to make sure everything is progressing normally. We finish children’s visits with preventive treatments, such as fluoride and sealants, to make sure the teeth stay strong and resistant to damage from mouth bacteria. As your child gets older, we will monitor growth and dental x-rays, advise on whether orthodontic treatment will be recommended, and assess when wisdom teeth should be removed, if necessary.
Adult Preventive and Restorative Care
It’s an unfortunate fact, but most adults will have to deal with tooth decay at some point in their lives. Additionally, teeth tend to get more brittle as we age and may fracture and crack more easily than they did when we were young. When you have a dental problem, we will always explain what we find, and what your options are. We always recommend conservative treatment options and do our best to preserve your natural teeth.
The best way to make sure you never have any catastrophic dental problems, of course, is with routine dental visits twice a year. During these visits, we remove the calcified plaque (tartar) that leads to tooth decay, clean and polish the teeth, and conduct a thorough examination to check for any signs of decay (cavities) and gum disease.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Time and years of hard use can age your smile, and even the healthiest smiles do not always look as bright and beautiful as you would like. For patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their smiles, we provide cosmetic dentistry services to makeover your smile and restore your self-confidence.
Some of our most popular cosmetic treatments include:
Teeth Whitening
Porcelain Veneers
Cosmetic Bonding
Dental Crowns
Inlays and Onlays
Tooth Colored Fillings
Laser Gum Correction
Sedation Dentistry
Millions of Americans forgo routine dental care, and it’s not always due to financial constraints or busy schedules. Many patients suffer from dental anxiety, and we understand what a challenge this can be. Whether you have had a bad experience in the past, or just prefer to avoid the experience of having dental work done, we invite you to try dental sedation. Gentle sedation can help even the most anxious patients relax and get the care they need.
At Family Dentistry & Aesthetics, we have a no-shame policy, which means you never need to worry about being lectured or belittled for the state of your oral health. We want to help you achieve the best oral health possible, but we can’t do this if you can’t enjoy a comfortable and calm office experience. Sedation dentistry allows nervous and phobic patients the opportunity to relax and get the care they need.
